I offer a supportive, relational approach to supervision, adapting my approach to each person’s individual needs for supervision. Every person comes to supervision with unique knowledge, experiences, and needs. I tailor supervision to your learning needs, your professional aspirations (e.g. development of specialties), the populations you work with, and your workplace context.
LLCs/LLPCs in Michigan are required to complete 100 hours of supervision and 3000 hours of supervised practice, which must take place over at least two years. I offer supervision that can take you all the way from finding your first counseling job to independent LPC licensure.

My Supervision Approach
I take a similar approach to supervision that I take to therapy, in that I focus on identifying your individual needs and strengths and providing a supportive, affirming atmosphere for growth. I make feedback as specific and action-focused as possible, and give you opportunities to apply feedback and practice skills in our supervision sessions, when appropriate.
I am strongly relationship-focused as a therapist, so this influences my way of conceptualizing clients and therapeutic issues. I take a person-centered approach to therapy overall, but within that framework I use a variety of theories and techniques, including CBT, EMDR, and motivational interviewing. I also emphasize developing competence to work with clients while attending to issues surrounding race, gender, sexual orientation, relational orientation, and other identities. I believe it is important to conceptualize clients as whole people, in all of their individuality, their collective identities, and their background experiences.
Supervision Formats
Individual Supervision
Individual supervision sessions provide opportunities for in-depth review of specific cases or particular topics. Individual sessions also give you the chance to receive more individualized feedback that addresses your particular needs. Individual supervision will involve periodic discussion of your overall progress toward full licensure, and assessing your current strengths and areas for growth. Individual supervision will also be available for crisis situations when you need support in assessing risk for suicidality or homicidality. I respond quickly to e-mails, texts, and phone calls in these situations. The fee for individual supervision sessions is $100 per session.
Group Supervision
Discussing cases with other therapists gives you the chance to receive feedback from a variety of perspectives and to hear how others address specific challenges in therapy. Observing other approaches to therapy can give you new ideas, new things to try, and ultimately a better sense of what works for you. It can also provide support as you navigate the challenges of starting out as a new therapist. Group supervision will take place depending on availability. The fee for group supervision is $80 per session.

Benefits of Working With Me
Supervision Expertise
I hold a doctoral degree in Counselor Education and Supervision. My doctoral studies provided me with intensive training in supervision and teaching, and as a doctoral assistant I gained over four years’ experience in working with counselors in training. I am dedicated to my supervisees’ growth and to making sure they can bring any needs, questions, and challenges to our supervisory relationship. I create opportunities to apply feedback and practice skills in our supervision sessions, when appropriate.
I provide supervision that supports and affirms supervisees’ identities and I am here to provide support for the process of working with clients who are similar to and different to you in a variety of ways. I have focused on understanding the experiences of supervisees and clients who are both similar to and different than myself. My dissertation research focused on microaggression experiences of LGBTQ students in counseling programs, using an intersectional approach.
Supervision that Meets Michigan Requirements
All LLCs/LLPCs in the state of Michigan are required to complete 100 hours of supervision and 3000 hours of supervised practice in order to earn LPC licensure, which allows them to practice independently. I am an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) through the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC). This allows me to provide supervision that fulfills licensure requirements for Michigan LLCs/LLPCs.
Supervision conducted via videoconferencing fulfills the Michigan requirement for face-to-face supervision sessions. I conduct all supervision sessions virtually, allowing you to meet from your workplace or your home. You will need to have access to reliable internet service and a device with a good camera.
Clinical Experience
I have over 10 years of clinical experience in working with a wide range of clinical concerns. I have experience in a variety of settings, including private practice, community mental health, and mandated substance use treatment. I can guide you through working in solo practice, navigating group practice settings, or addressing the needs that arise in your workplace.
I work with clients with a wide range of concerns, including depression, generalized and social anxiety, bipolar disorders, trauma, attachment concerns, anger management, substance use disorders, and other issues. I have additional training related to trauma, relationship issues, ADHD, and working with clients who experience societal oppression. I also work with individuals and couples/throuples who are in non-monogamous relationships.
